Hardcore News
Privacy
What the Hardcore News pages store and why.
Email signup
The signup form stores your email address, signup time, list status, consent version and a private unsubscribe token. The list is separate from Treavor’s Substack. Resend delivers a link after a Friday edition is published. We keep delivery records to prevent duplicate messages. The first scheduled send is October 23, 2026.
The owner can access the list to manage subscriptions. Your address is not displayed publicly or sold. Contact treavor95@yahoo.com to ask about your subscription or request deletion. Read the email-specific notice.
Browser storage
Saved stories, likes, reading progress, the dismissed welcome and appearance preferences use storage in your browser. Likes use a random browser identifier; a stored like does not verify a person’s identity. They are not a subscriber account. You can clear reading data from the Saved stories page or clear this site’s browser storage.
Contributor introductions
If you introduce yourself on the Join Hardcore News page, we store your name, email, chosen area, message, optional work link, consent record and submission time in the private site database. The authenticated owner reviews these introductions. They are not published, sold to sponsors or added to the newsletter list. We use a daily hash of the connection address to limit automated submissions, with a one-day expiry; the raw address is not stored in the introduction. To update or withdraw your details, email treavor95@yahoo.com from the address you used.
Readership measurement
We use a random first-party browser identifier that expires after 30 days to measure article visits, second-article reading, recommendation clicks and return visits within seven days. We do not connect it to subscriber emails or send it to advertisers. Action counts are deduplicated per story and browser session. Measurement records expire after 30 days of inactivity; daily totals remain. A daily hash of the connection address limits automated submissions; the raw address is not saved in these records. Counts can include bots and shared devices, and do not establish unique people or completed social posts.
Use the readership measurement switch in the footer to opt out. Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track signals also disable optional measurement. Likes and bookmarks still work.
Brain Points and reader accounts
The optional Brain Bank uses a secure, first-party guest cookie for seven days, article reward records and server-timed reading sessions. Signing in with ChatGPT links eligible points to your site account identifier. Raw connection addresses are not stored in the points ledger; hashed abuse buckets limit repeated claims. Rewards are separate from newsletter subscriptions and optional readership measurement. Read the Brain Bank rules and storage details.
Hosting and external services
Hosting providers may process technical request data to deliver and secure the site. The editor uses authenticated access. Display fonts for the news pages are served with the site. Linked sources, social-sharing sites and advertisers have their own privacy practices.
The author site’s inquiry forms and visitor counter have a separate privacy notice. Those services should not be confused with the Hardcore News email form.
