News for people

Stay informed. Keep your own opinion.

The record comes first.

You should be able to understand what happened without signing up for a political team. We lead with the event, the evidence, the practical consequence and what remains uncertain. Relevant reactions are attributed and optional. Unsupported claims do not earn equal weight just because they come from an opposing side.

A publication. Not a story limit.

Hardcore News publishes individual news articles as they are ready. The main News feed has no fixed story count or Friday-only publishing limit. This Week, Caught Up brings news and documented online discussion into one weekly overview.

The Week in Five

The Week in Five is a Friday series selecting five widely discussed stories from Saturday through Friday, weighing sustained attention across multiple major outlets and public discussion. We do not claim an audited circulation ranking. Each edition shows its exact coverage dates. An older edition remains dated to its original week.

A weekly edition, with a Friday cutoff

The Friday series brings selected stories into a weekly roundup alongside the wider publication. The dates at the top describe the period covered. The publication date tells you when the edition was assembled and released; a retrospective edition may be published after its Friday cutoff.

The article carries the account and attributed reactions together. Sources & reporting notes holds the source records, numerical context and publication history. Earlier editions remain in the archive.

Facts, arguments, and commentary

We keep the factual account, other people’s arguments, and HN’s commentary distinct. The Sources & notes section at the end of each article keeps the full source record in one place. Original records support specific claims; a government statement establishes what an administration says, but does not by itself prove that its claims are true or that a policy will work.

Figures need their units, time period, and scope. Forecasts and allegations are labeled, and a proposal, a court filing, an order, and an implemented policy are treated as different things.

Represent the argument fairly

Relevant arguments appear where they help explain the story, attributed to named people and organizations. No speaker represents everyone on the left or right. The meaningful disagreement can cross party lines.

A fair account does not give unsupported claims equal evidentiary weight. HN’s own analysis is labeled and kept separate from attributed positions.

How AI is used

AI assists with research, drafting, and organizing the linked source material for these editions. This is a small, AI-assisted publication, not an independently staffed fact-checking newsroom. The weekly summaries are assembled from published records, not field reporting or interviews conducted by HN.

AI can make mistakes. Read the original records, check what each one supports, and use the correction link if something is wrong. Each article’s Sources & reporting notes includes its production note and the dates of publication, source review, updates, and recorded corrections. A source-check date records review of the material; it is not a guarantee of independent verification.

Dates and uncertainty stay visible

Event dates are distinct from source publication dates and the date an HN article appears. The weekly cutoff does not turn an older event into new news. Each story explains material limits and unresolved questions; later developments belong in a subsequent edition or a clearly dated update.

The original pilot

The original October 20, 2026 pilot summaries and commentary were prepared with AI assistance from the linked source material. That pilot did not involve an independently staffed newsroom or reporting interviews. Each story identifies its byline and source-check date.
